Restyle: C'est Fini!

Oh Restyle, you so silly.  There are 31 days in August, not 30!

So to celebrate this poor forgotten day, and to celebrate today's Friday-ness (huzzah!), we present you with a summary of (almost all of) our 30 Days of Restyle outfits.

Yeah there are only 28 photos.  Whatever.

Huuuge thanks to:
- our lovely friend Sab for taking so many of the photos
- our beaus for taking some as well
- Renee from PFF for her crazygood organisation of the Restyle program! (She is also in charge of Student Runway and the walk-about program as well!  What a gun.)

And of course... thank you for reading!  Will we see you at the Restyle Parade?

Restyle: Ombre Maxi Skirt

Wow!  It's the last day of our 30 Days of Restyle for PFF already...  This August has just zoomed by.
Here we leave you with my most involved DIY garment of the whole project.  We hope you've enjoyed the 30 days as much as we have!

As you can see, I was totally in the mood for some ombre lace.  Thank goodness Restyle gave me a reason to do it!

DIY Details
Once again I raided the home furnishings section of Good Sammy's to find some lacy material.  This ombre maxi skirt was fashioned out of a tablecloth, which I pleated to fit the waistband and then painted.  It took many tubes of fabric paint and multiple trips to Spotlight and Lincraft!  (wear it with this and be an ombre-hombre).

Restyle: Dip Dye jeans

IMG_0891.jpg
Not a fan of this stubby pony tail, but ohhh well...

Outfit photos in the rain show great commitment to the cause.  As does gatecrashing someone's backyard for a cool backdrop & stinking out your whole car with bleach (T!) while these dip dye jeans are still drying.

DIY Details
These dip dyed jeans began as an exact copy of the trashed jeans in the Restyle promo shoot, so it is interesting to see what a little bit (read: many litres) of bleach can do.  I like how the bleach looks like it's creeping up the jeans.

Hair Cone - ebay (less than $3 + free postage!)

As always with these 30 Days of Restyle posts, ask in the comments if you want more details on the DIYs or things in general!

Restyle: Wetsuit

Le Fanciulle (33 of 35).jpg

S & I have some hilarious experiences with this minuscule wetsuit top.
We should probably stop shopping in the children's section so we can avoid getting stuck whilst being "birthed" through the neck-hole.  Thank goodness we had just finished 10 weeks of obstetrics, and thus used some extraction techniques so we didn't have to emergency caesarean the wetsuit...

DIY Details
The wetsuit top looked like it had already been DIY-ed (the arms were chopped off), so all I had to do was neaten up the dodgy snipping job and detach the hood.  Cbf DIY-ing the scuba trend?  Try this or this dress instead.

Restyle: Chain Stripe

IMG_2317

Rugged up = my favourite way to dress on an early morning escapade & this outfit certainly qualified.

DIY Details
My love of hand stitching knows no bounds.  So, inspired by these Sass & Bide jeans worn by Sara, I hand stitched a piece of silver chain down the side of some op shopped Kookai jeans.  It was very simple, but very time consuming... lucky the Olympics were on at the time so I could just sit there & stitch!

Restyle: Spiked Denim Vest

Le Fanciulle (16 of 35).jpg

Look familiar?
This was the denim vest that made the cut for our shoot photo!  You can't really see the gold spikes in the shot, so I'll excuse you for not recognising it.  S looks perfectly happy in the photo, but in reality she was getting her arms stabbed by the cone-spikes.

DIY Details
The inspiration for the spiked denim vest came from a number of sources, with the final design and distribution of spikes coming from the UNIF Leo jacket (see here, here and here).  The screw-back spikes were bought off eBay - my favourite resource for DIY materials.

The glittery black pumps were originally tan-coloured and destined for icing with some cool gold mini-beads.  However I quickly realised that tiny static plastic pieces were not my friends and ended up scraping them off and re-hashing my usual glitter technique.

Restyle: Shorty

IMG_2298

Even though I'm a fan of the shorts-in-Winter idea, it isn't very practical, so I think this outfit would be much better suited to Summer!  PX & I went out super early in the morning to take these photos (I froooze for you, little blog!) so my face looks really really sleepy....

DIY Details
Since seeing Hanne Gaby's awesome shorts collection (see here & here), I've wanted to make some fun sporty shorts.  These shorts began as 3/4 length pants (an atrocity).  I chopped them into this scooped-higher-at-the-sides shape & added black piping to the edges.
The shoes are a basic glitter-shoe project using $15 loafers from Rubi Shoes.  Past glitter projects here.
