Outfit: White Hot

Hey thanks weather, you're definitely listening to our pleas for a bit of sunshine... but next time how about a nice low 30s instead of a radical 30-bloomin-7!!  Luckily the people at Wish have me sorted with a white dress that requires nothing but ze undergarments.  And shoes.  Plus some simple shades that simultaneously block the glare and turn me into a female John Lennon.

Thank you PX for taking these photos and making me look much cooler than I really am ;)  This dress is definitely accompanying us to Koh Samui!

Through the Looking Glass with Peachy

Le Fanciulle (1 of 32).jpg

Peachy is my personal favourite store of the year in terms of clothes.
Not because this interview is with Bec & Jules - the ladies behind the concept store in the heart of Shenton Park, but because it offers everything I like to wear with the super-relaxed vibe that reminds me of weekends & holidays hanging out with S.
(Which, might I remind you, are super close!  4 days to go until study week!)

Trying to achieve Perth laid-back cool instead of Perth just-plain-lazy?  Then pay a visit to 204 Nicholson Road for a refreshing dose of dressing for comfort.  And try not to blow your budget on the Current Elliotts they have in store.  Breaking our tradition of e-interviews, I caught up with Bec & Jules a couple of weeks ago to chat about their exciting joint venture - interview after the jump.

Review: L'Oreal Professionnel at Circles of Subiaco

IMG_6923

I've always equated having my hair "sorted out" to growing up.  So much so that getting "old" (meaning, age starting with a 2 rather than a 1, haha) without the cool hair to match was a little worry of mine.  So silly... but a girl gotta have priorities ;)

Now, thanks to Circles of Subiaco, a dedicated L'Oreal Professionnel salon, my hair is looking "sorted out".  As a fan of natural-looking but fresh hair, L'Oreal's new Ombres Nature range is right up my alley. This new range by L'Oreal Professionnel is a step awaaay from the stark ombre of old towards a new, subtle way to enhance your base colour for Summer. This is the kind of colour that will make people say "ooh your hair looks so good today!" rather than "nice hair colour, who did it?"

See before, after & in between shots after the jump.

2WW: Stripes

Le Fanciulle (9 of 19).jpgLe Fanciulle (12 of 19).jpg

Yeah, so we've been pretty rubbish at maintaining this two-way Wednesday business.  Can we use med school as our excuse for real this time?  We've only got one an a half weeks to go until the end of our last rotation ever as student juvies!

This half-arsed attempt at a 2WW actually came about by a twist of fate, with both of us choosing to wear striped tops to the Times Square Claremont fashion launch last Tuesday.  We weren't the only ones, hence not breaking any new ground here - stripes are the go-to pattern for those in our blogosphere so it seems.  Bonnie caught it here on her insta!

Through the Looking Glass with Pippa McManus

Le Fanciulle (41 of 64).jpg

If & when you ever ask me who in Perth are my favourite *fashion* people, you can pretty much guarantee that Pip will top the list.  Genuinely friendly with an ear-to-ear grin & a wardrobe to be jealous of, this local favourite has her own unique presence in the realm of fashion illustration.  Check out today's TTLG interview after the jump to find out more about lefanch's perennial girl-crush.

Photos of my photobooks from 2010

The countdown is on - Simon & I will be heading to Tokyo over Christmas & New Year.  Since I was rather useless in Cambodia & Bangkok, I've decided this time I'll pull my weight a bit more & do a bit of research on things to do in Tokyo.  I visited with my family in 2010 & we've dubbed it our best holiday of all time - there were no obligations to see family & the atmosphere was just so different to anywhere else in SE Asia.  So this time, given that Simon & I have seen most of the standard tourist attractions, we'll be heading off the beaten track to check out some of the cooler, hidden things Tokyo has to offer.  We've watched Lost in Translation & re-hashed Memoirs of a Geisha, as well as cooked ramen from scratch in preparation.  Here are a couple of blogs & websites I've stumbled across to help me in this process - I know quite a few of my friends are heading over to Japan at the end of the year so hopefully these will come in handy!

Ebony Bizys is the crafty lady behind those Romance Was Born "Kawaii Hawaii" prints!  She made a Tokyo guide zine, but it's now sold out...  I guess I'll just have to read all of her blog posts and take notes.

Hiki also has design roots & takes some of the most lovely photos - very much in the style I like to shoot in when I travel!

Kinfolk - Tokyo: Instant Extraction
Fostering my newfound taste for coffee, perhaps Simon & I will have to hit up these joints for some caffeine.  Omotesando Koffee has popped up on multiple guides, so that might be the first stop.

Haven't used a Conde Nast guide before, but having a quick look at the articles on offer has already piqued my interest!

Kate Spade - Shibuya & Roppongi
Roppongi in particular I'm a bit wary of since it's the red-light district, but apparently there are some good bars and restaurants there.  This time we'll know what we're going for I guess, instead of stalking following a 6-ft transvestite in a leopard fur coat on the subway.  True story.

Bento - Tokyo Food Page
Japanese food.  Yes.

Hit me up with any recommendations if you've got them!

Summer Ready

Although we're only just starting to see some real Spring weather, there should be some sunlight coming soon. Fingers crossed!
A new season needs some new pick me ups to freshen last Summer's adornments, and here are a few of my favs.

Spring

Freshen up your stripes by wearing them as a tank.
Have you discovered Sol Sana?  You should have.
Nothing says it's hot! like a nice bright red.
I need some new bathers and these ones are a bargain and a half!
(*cough* maybe that's a want not a need *cough*)

What are you craving for this hot season?

DIY Inspiration: Tory Burch

Well here is Tory Burch hardly being original in her latest wares available on Net-A-Porter.

And I guess I'm not being too original posting these here as DIY inspiration since these look-a-likes have been around the traps from Phillip Lim to Markus Lupfer in the last year alone.  Pro-tip?  Stick beads on ERRRTHANG!  However, in this latest instalment of things-Trish-would-make-if-she-was-on-holiday-&-had-more-money, one can see how stinkingly easy it would be to re-vamp a boring op-shopped piece into something bedazzling.

jumper   jumper2

You'll just need some beads and quite a lot of patience to save yourself $500 (or $1000 if you're planning on blinging-up both a sweater & a shell top).  It can be done!

On another note, S got her hair coloured by Circles of Subiaco yesterday - can't wait to show you pictures!!

Times Square Claremont Fashion Launch

Le Fanciulle (8 of 49).jpg

The #tscfashionlaunch (we speak hashtag, do you?) made for an atypical Tuesday night.  Whilst normally Tuesday nights have us scrambling in preparation for Wednesday and the rest of the week, last night we took a little break in the form of delicious food & the latest Spring fashion.  We are told the cocktails were also delectable, although we can only vouch for the San Pel.  It was, after all, Tuesday night.

Follow the models for photos after the jump.

Outfit: Le Boston Terrier

There aren't that many ways to cheer yourself up whilst doing a 4 hour multi choice exam, but I'd say wearing a kooky jumper and polka dots would come close.  Another option is to have a post-exam pig out.  We recommend both methods.

A Dress for All Occasions

Alright, so we all know that fashion is going mad over minimalist wardrobes comprised of mainly grey marle and denim, but sometimes a girl just needs a bloomin' pretty dress.  (literally blooming or not)
It's fab that people are all about "buying classics" and "investing in staples", but do you really think they are consuming any less?  I think what they're really doing is just... buying more grey marle!  And more denim!  It's female justification 101.

Rant aside though, this post is an ode to the humble feminine dress, long forgotten at the back of our closets behind all that black, grey and breton.  A dress can make you feel gorgeous when you don't, or solve an outfit crisis on the day of an event (oh hey, that sounds familiar) , or give your boyfriend eyes like that loveheart-eyed-emoji.  Never underestimate its powers.

And anyway, it's Spring.  In Spring, we wear dresses.

Work dresses are a notable absence from this post, as they're honestly the most boring type of dress to shop for, and who wants to talk about work anyway.  (Helloooo Monday, you stink.)

I'd love to hear your opinion on the role of dresses in your wardrobe.  Do you wear them?  Do you own many?

Garth Cook AW '14 - MANIA

Le Fanciulle (24 of 34).jpg

If Garth's work from his last two seasons haven't already tipped you over into some sort of obsessive (borderline psychiatric) tendency, then be prepared to get a little manic over his latest offering for AW'14.  I wandered down to St Quentin's Ave yesterday afternoon to view the new collection & have a chat with the lovely Mr Cook about his newest sprig of sartorial offerings.  Do continue after the jump to check out more photos & get a feel for what inspired Garth - spoiler alert: his paradigm delectable tailoring continues & there are many unexpected couplings of materials (texturephiles be warned - you'll want to touch everything)!

Eat Out: Jean Pierre Sancho

Le Fanciulle (26 of 37).jpg

I'm pretty darn happy that JPS has freshly opened their patisserie doors on Waratah Road in Dalkeith - just a hop, skip & a jump away from Simon's house.  Sure beats having to pay through your nose for parking in the city.  Why do that when you can park and people-watch for free!  More money for food! You all know where to find me on the weekends now, stuffing my face with even more French pastries now that La Galette is no longer in Nedlands.

S, Pete, & I were feeling the need for goods made out of butter after our exam last week & JPS did not disappoint.  Whilst the quiche was no match for the IGA next door (yes, add that to your culinary list - BUY THE QUICHE from the Dalkeith IGA & thank me later), the bread & butter pudding smothered in chocolate sauce was quite the decadent treat.  Highly recommended.  And of course we couldn't not have a macaron each since they are award-winning & a good source of... protein.  Almonds have protein okay!

It's rather obvious that "banning" sugar isn't going to happen around here - ever!*
