Inspiration: Puzzling Pieces

image

There's this pair of black silk wide legged pants I own & am completely in love with but just cannot seem to wear anywhere!  Black silk trousers are a funny item, very modern and so current (pardon the disgusting fashunn talk), but at the same time extremely middle aged.  Definitely the type of thing you need to wear with care.

The above photo has inspired me to try a navy shirt, perhaps with black pointed flats... but even then, sounds scarily pajama like.

HELP.

Look Book: Keepsake The Label

We hope you had a very happy and holy Christmas with your loved ones!  We've had such good ones that the blog has been all but deserted.

To get back on the horse, here's a beaut sample of Keepsake The Label's Latitude collection.  I've a newfound appreciation for Keepsake's lace creations & managed to snipe this short sleeved white version on super sale yesterday - #boxingdaybargain.

There's quite a lot of Keepsake The Label available (on sale too) on The Iconic here, also at Zoie here, otherwise Aussie readers can visit David Jones.

Outfit: In Bloom

lefanciulle (11 of 12).jpg

Some items of clothing barely need accompaniment by accessories - or words for that matter - and this dress belongs in such a category.  Zimmerman's latest collections have been dangerously good, with this print being one of our favourites.

What to Wear: Christmas Day Edition

The festive season brings with it the biggest of conundrums... so many parties and SO MANY DRESSES TO CHOOSE FROM!  Let's be honest ladies.  We have plenty to wear.  Normally, we are (very hypocritical) proponents of wear-something-you-already-own, but Christmas Day is an exception to that rule.

I've split The Big Day outfit inspo into 3 categories.  Go forth and purchase a festive frock.

All available from Net A Porter - search at your own peril.  Items mostly $$$$ & used for example only.

Dresses
Try a digital print classic style for a sensible family lunch party.  Or perhaps a block coloured midi dress with a) heels for something fancy, or b) flat sandals & a daisy chain.  If a swimming pool or park is involved, purch a silk sleeveless affair to look chic but also cool as a cucumber.

Skirt + Crop
So you want to ditch the traditional dress & go with something more 2014?  Cool, go with a crop top and midi skirt.  Celebration-appropriate but slightly more interesting and on trend.

Shorts
In true Aussie style, sometimes a Christmas party is more of a beach picnic, and truth be told you cannot play beach cricket in a skirt.  Plenty of options available in the shorts department to look festive while maintaining your dignity!

What are you planning on wearing for Christmas?

Outfit: Bloomin'

lefanciulle (2 of 2).jpg

Last week's dash from work to the In Bloom exhibition was a good example of my recently-honed outfit-converting skills, forced upon me by my passionate dislike of wearing the same outfit from morning til night.  A quick change into a crop top & addition of some height in these super comfy sandals turned what was a hospital appropriate skirt into (hopefully) something a little less sensible.

PS - the skirt has pockets, hence the lack of bag.  Who needs a clutch when your wallet/phone/keys fit in your skirt?!

Event: In Bloom Perth

lefanciulle (38 of 42).jpg

When a large team of highly creative people combine their skills to create something totally new, you know you that something exciting will result.  In Bloom Perth, an exhibition of photography & illustration at MANY6160, is one of these.  In Bloom is a collection of photography by Caitlin Worthington featuring Narcisa in stunning Fox & Rabbit flower crowns, and then reworked in paintings by Pippa McManus that wouldn't look out of place in the room of our dreams.

Some things speak louder than words, and the line to purchase the artworks was more than enough proof that Perth folk are putting their money where it counts... on the walls of their homes!

See the exhibition at MANY6160 this week, open 10am-5pm until December 14.

Rant: What Are We Cleansing?

juice cleanse

As much as S & I love juice as part of a normal diet (and a better alternative to soft drink and the like), it still baffles us as to why you'd spend your hard earned money on a "cleanse" that defies basic biology and physiology.  I was all fired up from an article over the weekend, so I've made this little card to practise my hand-lettering and also inform those who want to know more about why we feel this way about the mythical juice cleanse fad.

Cleanse your mind, not your wallet!!

Shop: Festive Style

image
Christmas is a ultimate excuse to treat yourself to something festive, fun & definitely un-basic.

This Zimmerman skirt would do if I win the lottery, which would be complemented perfectly by this basic Kookai crop, a bold neck adornment & these perfectly not-too-high heels that I potentially have already bought ;)

Event: Fox&Rabbit X TypeHype

Fox&Rabbit + TypeHype.  As far as winning combinations go, this has got to be one of the best.

Bec & Dan are two Perth creatives who have turned their passion into a dream job, and our world is prettier for it!  Together they launched Dan's "new" letterpress from the 1800s, lovingly refurbished over a long 6 months, at a studio party that saw guests ogling Fox & Rabbit blooms, TypeHype letterpressed stationery, Bec's On a Whim dress & Belle Bijoux shoes.
