Gabriel Lage at PFW

Here's instalment two of my quick (under-equipped) photographic foray into this year's Perth Fashion Week.  Why only two shows you ask?  You can read yesterday's post to hear about it.

Slight annoyances aside, here's my shots from the Gabriel Lage show.  Models sashayed down the wide runway in stunning evening wear to the dulcet tones of French songstresses.  The long-sleeved red dress in the first photo was one of my early favourites.  Lace without too much skin on show is always a winner, although I do think the prize goes to that Lover Serpent dress which had a good combination of demure-on-top and interesting hemline.

Red and orange colours transitioned into more neutral tones of beige, cream and the odd black and blue with some dazzling beaded delights on show.  If Mr Lage had done without the first few coloured dresses, I would have been just as impressed with the detail and delicate work which he sent down the runway.  It's a pity there were so many empty seats, as a number of gowns garnered collective "oohs" and "wows" from the front row.  Perhaps the dozy post-lunch 3pm time-slot got the better of Perth's fashion set.

Can someone please tell me how to stop Flickr ruining photos with those crazy little dots in the previous two photos?

Anyway, feast your eyes on these flowing dresses.  The beadwork and the lightness of the fabric made the dresses look so ethereal.  Local talent, Gemma Bidstrup was also looking hot-to-trot in that fitted beaded number!  From here on, I reckon Mr Lage's work was just getting better and better.

Even more beads and lace for the grand finale - a fish-tailed bridal gown.  I think it must have been the top-knot and the veil, but it reminded me of a Spanish bride (like this).  On further fact-checking, Mr Lage's bio says he is influenced by his Grandfather and Father - both renowned Spanish Haute Couture tailors.  So that's where the meticulous attention to detail comes from.

Congratulations Mr Lage on a beautiful collection!

Again, you can check out the rest of the runway pictures on our Flickr.
And thanks again to Farrah for the spare tickets.

P.S. I'm thinking of doing a gear upgrade at some point in time...  Any Nikon lovers with good recommendations for new bodies or good lenses?  Ideally I'd like to be in better form for when the Perth Fashion Festival rolls around in September (although chances are, I'd have no money to fund a body upgrade by then).  Any feedback is welcome!
