If you hadn't already gathered from our twitter & instagram feed, on Friday night, we were thrilled to attend one of Perth's biggest fashion fundraising events - STYLEAID! In its fifteenth year, the event was a huge success with thousands of dollars raised for the WA AIDS Council.
Happy 15th birthday, STYLEAID :)
Happy 15th birthday, STYLEAID :)
Lots of photos in this post, so click on the jump to see a selection of runway shots!
The Grand Ballroom in Burswood (or should I say, the Crown Metropol?) was decked out in a birthday-theme, complete with balloons, party hats, and a centrepiece of fairy floss & marshmallows on each table!
Aurelio Costarella's designs opened the runway show, drawing many "oohs" and "aaahs" from the crowd. We had an awkward moment saying hello to him in the foyer (which involved two very star-struck bloggers and a photo), but that's another story :P
Garth Cook was the next designer to send models down the runway, showing off his latest collection - "THIS IS NOT RESORT".
Contrasting with Garth Cook's gelato-coloured creations, Betts Creative Award winner Monster Alphabets sent down a bevy of monochromatic looks. Spotted on the models were pieces by jewellery designer, Tegan Sewell for Sewellery.
Our favourite Perth designer, Ae'lkemi came after, changing up the pace with vibrant formal gowns. The accompanying music was particularly Battlestar-Galactica-esque, which made it that much more fun for Sinead and I (BSG fanclub).
Bringing back the casual cool was Flannel. I've been walking past their Subiaco store and peering in for the past few weeks, and it was lovely to see their pieces in motion on the catwalk!
Keeping the drapey-cool vibe was Morrison. I am in love with the red-orange dress. So in love, that you get two photos of it.
Even more drapey and casual was United Constructions. I'm sure S loved the dress + converse shoes combos!
Providing a bit of a shock came Dilettante featuring pieces by the ever-outrageous Vivienne Westwood.
Fenella Peacock carried on with the colour...
... and then more colour was sent down the runway by Empire Rose, featuring some magnificent feathered headpieces.
Poppy Lissiman was next, showing off some cute flirty designs and summery prints. I'll be sure to get my hands on some of her dresses at the end of this year for the warmer weather!
We were all waiting with bated breath for the next collection - Zsadar - as our pal John was on the runway (the first picture below)!!
Congrats John on a great walk :D
Very cool jewellery by Alister Yiap as well.
Hot Perth favourite, Zhivago was next to send down their svelte, streamlined designs.
After a racy interlude (swimwear, featuring some very oiled, muscular models), One Fell Swoop regained control of the catwalk.
The final (yes, we're finally near the end of this post!!) collection was the student collections, providing mind-blowing, candy-coloured fun! If this is the calibre of our current Perth fashion students, then I can only predict that the next wave of young designers to grace future STYLEAID & PFF catwalks will be an absolute credit to our State!
To finish off the catwalk show, the entire backstage team came out to walk the runway! We spotted our stylist pal, Mikey, who had been slaving away the whole day with the team.
A small selection of social photos to finish off this super long post:
We hope you enjoyed the photos in this post!
If you want to see even more (oh my goodness, there are even more???), then you can check them out on our Flickr!
Bring on the next fashion event!
