DIY: Is Your New Purchase Just "Not Quite Right"?

Whilst I usually reserve my hacking-things-up skills for op shopped or handed down clothes (mainly because my skills are lacking and the risk is high), I recently bought this dress that was just crying out for a quick alteration.  It was just not quite right.  The dress was purchased mainly for its seriously cute print, but was simply unwearable (to put it lightly) with the clashing shades of green in the beads and in the print!  Really.  I just couldn't.  #fashunproblems

I put the dress on to go for brunch, packed scissors in my bag and then ordered PX to both de-bead and take photos of the result.  Doctor's orders!  He had to comply. (hahaha my favourite joke at the moment)

After de-bead-ment
Is this not far more clean and cute?  Yes, I tell you.  I mean, if it really needed beads they could be mint green, right?

Peachy Store Launch

Le Fanciulle (13 of 23).jpg

Life is pretty peachy at the moment for our dear friends Bec & Jules, who last night officially opened their Peachy store in Shenton Park.  Okay, yes, it has been open for 9 weeks now (enough time for us to get an interview in with them!) but that hasn't stopped the dynamic duo from styling Perth's fashion set & setting tongues wagging with their down-to-earth collection of sartorial offerings.

Last night, we were treated to polaroid paparazzi and peach-themed treats galore as the local set turned out to celebrate the much-loved ladies behind everyone's new favourite boutique.  Ali Cotton (the talented lass who conjures up First Base and Joveeba) was also in Perth to show her support.

Oh and if you're looking for some style inspiration for balmy Summer nights, you can't go past a relaxed white t-shirt, boyfriend jeans and some killer sandals if the trendy folk were anything to go by.  BYO je ne sais quoi attitude & messy hair.

Photos after the jump.

Dedication

Le Fanciulle (97 of 112).jpg

"In the exercise of my profession I will ever have in mind the care of the sick and the well-being of the healthy."

Just a snippet of the pledge we took on Saturday.  We're so looking forward to practicing the art of medicine with our dear friends whom we've graduated with - it wouldn't be the same without them.

The Week That Was Graduation

If you've been tracking our progress on our instagram, you'll be well aware that this past week was filled to the brim with graduation celebrations.  To quote S, it took us six years so we were going to stretch it out for as long as possible.

Here is a small-ish collection of my favourite photos for your viewing pleasure - including pre-graduation dinner photos, a fancy champagne breakfast in which we were given slightly wankerish name-badges (the "Dr" title is a strange transition, but we'll hopefully get used to it soon), and of course our dedication ceremony during which we pledged our lives to the profession.  Forever.

Holiday Reads #1

Seeing as things are changing in this little web-based hood, we may as well begin a new post series titled Holiday Reads.

In primary school I always read whatever my best friend read, as she had impeccable literary taste and was a serious book worm.  When high school came, I replaced her with my younger sister who had similar book-choosing abilities and level of literacy to me. (I lagged, don't laugh.)

Now, though, proper novels have taken second place to fat text books.  In an attempt to reignite the flame, I decided to ease myself into reading fiction with Man Repeller's Seeking Love, Finding Overalls.  Ok, fine, it's not even fiction.  Whatever.  Review below.

Seeking Love, Finding Overalls is, to sum it up quickly, a collection of easy to read and hilarious essays.  It's for lovers of Leandra Medine's writing style, both crass and brutally honest.  I would not recommend this book to people who squirm at reading her blog or even for someone who has never read the blog as it would be shocking to the max!

I so highly recommend this LOL-of-a-book that I planned to buy it for T for Christmas.  Obviously I can't do that now because I've a feeling she reads this blog (har har har), but you can still add it to your list!

Happy (almost) Summer!

Getaway

Having a blog-holiday has been wonderful this past week - therefore, I am not sorry for the radio-silence at all.  Francesca put our current sentiments into choice words again, and I'll make it very clear that this little bloggy is going to carve out a new direction in the following months.  Peeling away from the contrived commercialism that is rampant in our community (yes, including the Perth blogger set...), S & I will be doing what we please (which is what this blog was started for in the first place anyway).  Not that we don't love you all, but we need some us-time now.

Anyway, S is still living it up in Koh Samui & I took a short break down south with my friends.  There were guns, sunsets, walks, & beaches involved - what more could you want?

Can't you just feel the freedom?

Untitled

Six long years of medical school cumulated in one final exam yesterday (which I might have been late to...) and the freedom and relief is palpable!  S has just touched down in Koh Samui & I'll be heading down south for a short time this week, but before we burn all of our study notes just a quick thank you to you, our readers, for following us along in our medical school journey.

Even though this year has just dragged on, we've enjoyed coming home to little LF to take our minds off our studies.  Don't worry - we won't be closing down any time soon, but rather continuing on with our haphazard posting schedules to fit around our lives.  There'll be heaps of celebration & travel photos to come in the next two months anyway!

As one door closes another one opens - but not before a good long holiday.

T's Lunchtime Lust List: Friday

Ooops - guess who was too busy studying and forgot all about this post?  ME!  Being able to focus for over an hour is a rare occurrence, so forgive me for neglecting my lunch & lunchtime blog contribution.

The sun is shining out side, and I RSVP-ed yes to a pool party next week without any bathers to sport, so today's lust list is all about swimwear.  Unbeknownst to S, I'm also actually signed up to a scuba-diving course, hence the abundance of sports-inspired togs below.  Don't want to lose a bikini top when I'm attempting to exit the water like a Bond-girl.  Hahaha one can dream.

I'm foreseeing the use of a one-piece as a body-suit too.  Plus it means I can slack off ab-wise.
That's a win-win situation in my books!
