Tokyo Photo Diary: Christmas in Shinjuku

If you're only in Tokyo for a short time & haven't much time to visit the numerous shrines & temples, the Hie shrine in the business-district of Akasaka is well worth getting off the metro for.  Whilst you won't be able to run through the tori gates Memoirs of a Geisha-style (that's at the Inari Shrine in Kyoto), it's still a gorgeous place for photos.

We dropped by Hie-Jinja for photos on Christmas Day, then whittled the rest of the afternoon away in Shinjuku playing the coin game in one of the arcades, scouring the local dive shops for bargains, and feeding the Zara-empire with our patronage.  Dinner was a meat party at one of the local yakiniku restaurants - our favourite Christmas meal!
