Shopping: See My Vest

Screen Shot 2015-03-30 at 5.38.33 pm

As a former opponent of vests, it's time to swallow my words and invest in one of the top trends of the season.  Perfect chance to flaunt your arms in the colder months & motivation to keep you at those early morning pilates classes.  Nothing says commitment like a toned bicep in Winter, ha!!  Dream on. Hello doona.

Through the Looking Glass: Luisa Hansal

LUISA HANSAL, visual artist

So a few major exciting things have happened in the past 12 months and the next 12 are likewise, going to be notoriously B.I.G. in the change department.  One of these things is Simon & my impending house (which will be taking shape over the course of this year!!) - such "adult" decisions and things that we're just coming to terms with.  That, along with cooking food for ourselves and doing the laundry.

One great thing about having a place in-the-making to call our own is being able to commence the hoarding of homewares, accoutrements, and ART!  We just so happened to stumble upon a really rad little exhibition put together by Luisa on our return from Bali, and hyped up on the many "mature-aged" things we had already done that day (washing - check, grocery shopping - check), adding our first piece of art to our collection put the icing on the cake.

What I loved about Luisa's work was the intricacy of the pieces, the harmonious bold colours, and not to forget the deliberate use of glitter and/or risqué photos.  If only my mother wouldn't be so shocked to see a nude hanging in our house.  I'm kicking myself because I didn't take nearly enough photos to show off how meticulously created her work was (as Simon's definition of "art" is something he wouldn't be able to recreate himself" - this definitely checked that box).

Anyway, Luisa agreed to do our little e-interview, which I hope piques your interest in seeking out and supporting our local emerging artists!  Check it out after the jump.

Travel: Sydney Photo Diary

Untitled

Sorry dudes but you'll have to wait with bated breath for more wedding photos as Tasj has some scheming going on!  Boo, yes, because wedding photos are one of my favourite things to peruse and I bet it's the same for you - all the glorious flowers, the dresses, the cake, and THE FLOWERS.  If I could have $4k worth of flowers around me every day I would.  I bet I would also be single-handedly making up the Perth sales of Nasonex and Telfast, which wouldn't be as great but hey, FLOWERS.

However, we shall move forward and fill this little bloggy with other photos of adventures, beginning with my post-wedding trip to Sydney.  No, not officially part of the honeymoon as I was busy nerding it up HARD at a conference.  But there's always time to have breakfast, and always gaps in the academic program (i.e. days to wag) to go to Bondi...

Notable awesome places we visited:
- Taronga Zoo: there's not many places where you can see a chimpanzee poop into it's hand and eat it
- The Grounds of Alexandria - Perth, we need a place like this!  And we also need Lil' Sebastian!
- Hurricanes Ribs (for the ribs of course)
- The Chop House (also for more food - the steak was gooood)
- Darling Point - for a leisurely walk amongst some very expensive real estate
- Tuchuzy at Bondi - finally seeing my online window-shopping addiction in the flesh

I'm baaaaack!!!!

Well, in truth I've been back for a week, but finally "back" into blogging after settling in to a fresh timetable, new house, and new life as a married lass!  Here's a sneak peak of S & I, photographed by the amazing Natasja Kremers.  More wedding photos to come in the near future, I promise :)

Collecting Khaki

Perhaps it's the season change, or maybe it's a trend I'm just going along with, but khaki is seriously on my hit list. The delectable combination of black, denim & khaki is one of the (few!) good things about Winter.  Kidding, I love all seasons.  But Summer is the best.  Followed by Spring and Autumn, with Winter bringing up the freezing rear.

Eat Out: The Hardware Cafe # 2

If T would please return from her honeymoon & accompany me on a brunch date, I'd be majorly pleased.  The blog would likely be pleased too as I have done a dastardly job of being sole custodian. #comebackT

In the midst of a mad house hunt & a lot of Pinterest activity, I located some dream interiors that will fo shizzle be recreated in the abode that will hopefully soon be located.

Season Change

Whether we like it or not, Autumn has begun & before we know it the temperatures will be more often in the 20s than in the 30s (Noo!! Come back Summer!) but if there's one good thing about a season change, it's updating the 'drobe.  No need to invest in new clothes though, especially with basics being "so in".  This season, focus on the things you throw on last, just before you go out the door feeling fabulous.

Public service announcement to all Perth-ites by the way - a new General Pants is opening (tomorrow!) in Joondalup, joining Mecca & all the other awesome things happening in the northern 'burb.
Half the above things can be located in said store.

Give a girly nerd a house to decorate & the above is how I imagine the result.  Well, it would be in my bower bird hands anyway, with my conical flask/assorted jars collection blossoming every single weekend.  All I need now is for Mrs T to fix me up with some greenery.
