Honey Cornflake Crackles

Yum yum yum.  Today is DIY Friday with a culinary twist!

Le Fanciulle (1 of 14).jpg

Need a sugar fix?

Make some honey cornflake crackles!
(recipe adapted from here)

Ingredients:
1 tbsp honey
90g butter
1/3 cup sugar
4 cups cornflakes

Method:
1.  Preheat an oven to 150 degrees celsius
2.  Melt the honey, butter and sugar in a saucepan
3.  When the melted mixture is bubbly, turn off the fire, add in the cornflakes and combine well
4.  Spoon mixture into patty cases and bake in oven for 10 minutes
5.  Cool on a wire rack
6.  Go to town on those crunchy suckers.

Rainy Grey Days

These (post here) new boots have proven to be errmmm, what should I call it... a sartorial challenge, perhaps?

Like most coloured shoes, they look best worn with a simple neutral outfit. (And are also good for rescuing gloomy outfits without the extra effort that comes with jewellery & other boring-outfit-fixers)

Asos cable jumper here
Cheap Monday black jeans here (one item I can already tick off)
Pieces Naysa Leather cross body bag here (real leather! woo!)

June is nearly over so grey marle (our colour of the month that we have barely mentioned) is getting a few last hurrahs.

Mixing Reds

There are girls who centre their outfits around a dress or top & those who base outfits on shoes, but then there is one strange girl who centres her outfits around... socks.  VoilĂ .

Another Winter Wish-list

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling rather partial to white and grey this Southern Winter season.
Not that I don't love my standard winter uniform (read: black), but some frosty tones are just a bit more fun in the sea of black.

A.M. Eyewear - "Kami" sunglasses in bone

Tried my hand at some K.Walker-inspired editing to show off these bone-coloured Kami frames.  As you can tell, I'm loving portrait shots at the moment.  S gave me creative license to go wild with the pictures, so naturally I did :)

A Short Love note

Dear little jazz shoes,

I cannot fulfil your real purpose at all, but I plan to wear you a lot because you are very comfortable.
You are also made of black leather, which is by far my favourite shoe material.

Love from one insane girl who writes letters to her shoes.

Lots of portraits because I have very good-looking friends :)

Denim Heaven

Perhaps it's just my rotten luck, but I cannot find a denim shirt which is 1. in my size; 2. in the wash I want; and 3. within my budget (which is really the rate-limiting step in my denim-acquisition formula).

So again, if the internet were my wardrobe...

Denim orange taupe

I'd be rolling around in my favourite casual brands (J Crew, Rag & Bone, etc) and teaming denim with orange.

Eat out: Country Road Cafe

We braved the pre-storm weather to have lunch with Kaye on Wednesday, and had a grand two hours (S's parking limit) of chatting!

We chowed down at the Country Road Cafe, which has some mixed reviews on Urbanspoon, but we had the nachos which were pretty yummy (seriously, how can it go wrong?).

Bejeweled

If you learn one thing from these photos, it should be that windy weather results in cah-raaazy hair!

Wanna learn something else? Then read ahead: Buying new leather is for fools (or Mr Moneybags & associates)
eg. this $500+ By Malene Birger leather skirt vs the one worn below, thrifted with the help of T's keen eye.

We are currently savouring a 2 week break from uni and, might I say, basking in the glory of doing nothing.  Well, if you count a thousand and one sneaky DIYs as nothing...

Decided to channel a bit of an 'Elizabeth & James' monochromatic look by wearing grey-on-grey.  It's quick and easy for those non-formal uni days.  Also, here's the debut of my new Karen Walker Number Ones!  S sniped them for me on eBay like a pro, and now I can finally cross them off my wishlist (since they've been there for over a year now).

P.S. Holiday-shenanigans are goin' down!  And by that I mean we are relishing this time of year to hole-up and hermit in our houses.

Cold Feet

Winter is well and truly here & my feet are be COLD.  'Tis time to invest in some whacky socks so that my toes will be toes-ty (hahaha) & my siblings won't mistake my socks for theirs.

Haven't gotten around to adding any Equipment silk shirts into my wardrobe yet (yeah still dreaming...  This time of green, citrus and leopard...).  But this Zara number was a welcome addition, and it is the perfect Autumn colour.
