And that's a wrap!
Six full-on days of fashion culminated last night in the closing night featuring Perth export Kym Ellery's designs on the runway. Unfortunately we couldn't bring you the runway action (which I am now insanely jealous of since Sara of Harper & Harley was there), but study takes preference over wheedling my way into a show. Backstage with L'Oreal Professionnel, it was third time lucky with the hair look for the night - the "un-done" tresses undergoing two further transformations into the final sleek ponytail.

Take a final peek backstage with us as we wrap up our coverage of the hair looks - a huge thank you to Bianca, Brad, & the rest of the backstage team who put up with our shutter-bugging antics.
HAIR LOOKS
Hair was blow-dried with volume lift spray mousse for texture at the roots and along the lengths. A centre part was created and the hair gathered in a low ponytail, dropped slightly at the nape of the neck. Wispy sections of the hair were brought out to frame the face if the models had layers short enough to do so - if not, the hair was smoothed over the top of the ear with even tension. A coat of crystal gloss spray was then painted or sponged onto the hair from the crown to tame rogue fly-aways. For the girls with short hair, a super-sleek bob was created.
The clean & minimal hair look was teamed with a bold red lip by Lauren Wood Makeup - not the usual Ellery-esque aesthetic (I think that their original look of the unfinished waves & nude makeup was more Kym's usual styling), but nonetheless effective. Can't wait to see the actual runway photos tomorrow! (Cue rage-rant about blurry Instagram runway photos clogging up my feed... More on that at a later date.)
Finally, some shots of the Linton & Kay Gallery set-up in Brookfield Place (it was a very long runway, including 3 different rooms. As well as a LOT of gold as a backdrop to the stairway.). Also, some candids - my favourite kind of backstage shot!

Mega kudos again to the L'Oreal Professionnel team who let us roam backstage - we had a great time at this year's PFF & we hope you readers had a good time following along on the blog.

P.S. This is certainly not our last Perth Fashion Festival post for this year - still to come is the backstage hair & makeup coverage of the Camilla & Marc evening, as well as a bunch of street-style pictures which will trickle up slowly over this week.

What gorgeous photos! I hear you on not being able to attend everything - I took a bit of time off from our Wellington event, Fashion in the Capital to focus on my own studies!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jaime-Lee :)
DeleteYeah, fashion week is fun if you don't have assignments to churn out at the same time... Also, great coverage of NZFW both backstage & runway! Loooove seeing what's across the pond hehe.

How do they all have such great hair!?? A little depressed I didn't make it to anything this year but your excellent photos make up for that.

I have no idea - probably the ton of L'Oreal product which protects from the heat? (although my hair would be mega ratty after a week of styling...)
DeleteThank you so much for your feedback on our photos - get yourself to shows next year! Come & hang with us!
