Girls' Brunch

We spent the wonderfully sunny ANZAC day/Easter Tuesday holiday with our girly friends for brunch (which turned into afternoon-tea...  therefore becoming br-afternoon tea?).

The essential ingredients for a fun morning/midday/afternoon:

1. Some girlies of the gorgeous & fun variety:
Our lovely hostess, LG
Isn't A's sun-dress super cute?

2. An abundance of food - both healthy & chocolatey. We clearly didn't eat enough at Easter!
We recommend the orange & poppy-seed muffins from Brighton Bakery!
Miss S's scrumptious high-fat chocolate treats!

3. Some summery necessities: sunnies & comfy clothes!

4. A spa - this one is fondly named Spaticus (har har har).
Spa-legs!

5. Tea!  Although it is important to note that tea bags won't suffice.  If you want a real fun afternoon, you need a teapot and milk-jug just like the olden days ;)

Et voila! A guaranteed beautiful Autumn br-afternoon-tea.

Rachel Roy - thanks to The OutNet!

A couple of weeks ago, I snagged a ticket to the £2 OutNet Sale and after 20 minutes of excited yelling and frantic clicking, landed myself a Rachel Roy dress.  It arrived sometime early last week, but thanks to the extra-long weekend I got some time to take some shots and show it to you :)

Here you can see the origami-pleats...
And the self-tie sash...

Hope you all had a lovely Easter!

Bright Sunny Day

Happy Easter Monday!! The weather has been so perfect this Easter- mid 20s with a light breeze. All you non-Perthites should be jealous!!

But onto more import matters, T challenged me in this post to replicate the below outfit. According to her it was an easy challenge, but due to having barely any yellow items & minimal blues, I had to run with the silhouette & brightly coloured-ness (ahem, grammar police?) of it instead.

Be kind, I'm camera shy!

The Challenge

The Attempt

Steve Madden shoes, thrifted green blazer & top

Can you see a very messy room in the background? I should have put in a picture of my mother's disapproving face to complete the scene :P

Busting at the Seams

Do you ever find you have HEAPS of clothes (i.e. wardrobe bursting at the seams), but still manage to lack a few key items?  It is the bane of my existence.  I suppose life's good when that's your biggest current problem...

Along the lines of my latest idea called 'targeted shopping' - only buying what you set out to buy - I have decided to make a list of what I am allowed to buy this winter.

S' List
1. Chunky heeled black ankle boots like these (pic from thischicksgotstyle)
2. A dark coloured cape/swing coat that actually holds up against the weather
3. Chunky, baggy & comfortable knit - I have too many fine v necks!
Either of these Zara ones would do me just fiiiine...
4. Some socks to peep out of my burgeoning boot collection
5. Something velvet, like this skirt below - such a cute wintery addition!
(pic via vanessajackman)
6. Some black tights that are BLACK and not NAVY masquerading as black
Grr this is a pet hate of mine. Does anyone know of a reliable tights brand?
If not, I'm going to Asos (solver of all fashion dilemmas)

T's winter wish list is coming very shortly to a laptop near you...

Woooo it's Friday!! Time to go "off duty" chic...

(Got a bit sick of learning about sick people the other night, so I decided to do another potential-outfit collage...)

As a lazy sod, when I go out on the weekend I tend to keep my outfits relatively simple.  However I do find it's better when I mix some of my boring stuff with some of my less-boring stuff, just to maintain the illusion that I am a stylish person.

So here we have an outfit post, inspired by these J Brand jeans which I saw and immediately decided I must have.  Funds permitting. (therefore not any time soon).

Aren't they divine?  I love red!!
Roll them up and make them cuffed to emulate a bit of Isabel Marant.

From that, I would pop on a neutral top (like the one above by American Vintage) as to not burn the retinas of the people around me.

Then I'd chuck all my junk into a bag - I've been hunting around (for ages!) for: 1. a black bag, and 2. a bucket bag.  This DVF beauty indeed fulfils both criteria, and therefore would be a potential purchase (again, funds permitting.  So not in the forseeable future...).  It also has some dinky tassels - bonus! ^_^

Add to that some animal-print shoes - thank you D&G.  I like mixing leopard (in this case 'ocelot') print with red because it's punchy and fun!

Last but not least, a simple black belt.  Because you can't tuck your top into your pants without one.  (or so you really shouldn't in my reasoning).  One like this does well, and the gold hard-ware will look great with the animal-print and red (but won't be too much as to assume the appearance of a gaudy-looking tramp - huzzah!).

Thanks, My-Wardrobe, for being my biggest procrastination tool of the week.

And Happy Easter readers!
I hope you have a relaxing time away from work (if you were lucky) to spend with family and friends :)

Pantaloons?

Mother dearest was so excited at the discovery of these glittery gold pants that I fondly call pantaloons. I'm pretty sure the technical term is 'palazzo pants'...  The point of the story is that although they are simultaneously ridiculous and hilarious, I bought them...and I will wear them out - just watch me!

These stupendously high wedges are also a recent find.  They make me gigantor.  The End.

Thrifted pantaloons, Sonia by Sonia Rykiel top via My-Wardrobe, Dotti belt, Thrifted wedges, Kit cosmetics nail polish, Country Road tank top

We have recently noticed a severe lack of photos of "real people" on our blog, so you will be seeing an increased number of outfit posts & original photos from now on :) Time-permitting, of course!

xx S

Please excuse T & I for going on a total posting rampage. We have so many posts just waiting to see the light of day that we are going to be posting pretty regularly to clear the back-log!!

Tuesday woes - dreaming of some weekend luxe

After a full day at the hospital, followed by arriving home exhausted with a running tap of a nose, I am just hankering for the long weekend to get some study out of the way and have a sleep-in.  And browse some more online shops to maketh me a better wardrobe :)
Seriously, there must be something wrong with me - it's not even hump-day yet and I'm dying for a break!

Also, I'd love to have the motivation to dress this nicely on the weekends...  I do wear similar outfits in terms of coupling my silk shirts with my jeans, but I'm yet to find a pair of shoes like these which can look comfy enough to wear all the time!

Find these pieces at My-Wardrobe.com (who are celebrating their 5th birthday!):
Equipment neutral signature silk blouse - acts as a perfect wardrobe staple
Alice by Temperley Sandrine leather stretch trousers - putting an edge to an otherwise girly outfit
Mawi smoke acrylic crystal & skull necklace - having a bit of a McQueen skull moment here.
See By Chloe navy cut-out platform sandal - I think I am in love with these shoes
Ray-Ban black & crystal frame wayfarer sunglasses - can you believe it's been almost a year and I am still lusting after these sunnies I blogged about?

Keenly awaiting the Easter break,
xx T

Beauty School Dropout

I am by no means a guru on beauty products. In fact, I stick to the same routine every morning in order to get out of the house looking OK without missing my bus. Just add brighter lips/extra mascara for a night out!!

Recently though, a couple of new buys have upped the ante (what does that phrase even mean?) in my daily routine. Read on to find out some simple purchases that can make your hair softer/lips brighter/eyes!

1. MoroccanOil
This is the most amazing product. I'm currently trying to speedily grow my hair and so, to prevent dry ends between trims I've been stealing borrowing tiiiiiny amounts of my Mum's Moroccan Oil. It will make your hair incredibly smooth and is how our gorgeous friend Miss S keeps hers looking fab!

2. L'Oreal Professional Expert hair-repair masque
T also surprised me with this L'Oreal hair serum a few weeks ago. I use it about once a week and it is so moisturising!

3. Kit cosmetics nailpolish & lippy

FREE Kit nailpolish if you buy the latest shop magazine. The girls in store were so lovely that I ended up browsing & buying a lip colour (below) as well :| OH no, says the bank!

My new lippy in 'Freedom Fighter'...the colour is SO vibrant. I will dare to wear it on the blog one of these days!

4. Diorshow waterproof mascara
My mother dearest invested in a new mascara and it is amazing. Better than any I've ever tried- no clumping, it doesn't dry your lashes, it is really dark...ie it is Perfect!!

Any beauty buys brightening your day lately??
