In That Holiday Mood!

Le Fanciulle (8 of 11).jpg

Post-exam happiness!
Feel those holiday vibes?  It's because holidays are in full swing for us - finally!

Here's a blue-toned outfit for the last day of our Black Out challenge.  Yeah I know, the bag is black and that means I've failed today's outfit hah, but the outfit looked incomplete without it so this'll just have to do.  I have much love for this tropical-print Zara skirt; it just sets the mood for a great summer (yeah, even when teamed with a wool jumper on a 25 degree day.  Go figure).

Yeah... you can tell these photos weren't taken this week as the weather has decided to revert to Winter!

This Blackout challenge has been quite an illustration of how much black we wear & (truthfully) are not going to stop wearing anytime soon!  Bright colours are awesome, but when you can't even wear your favourite black ballet flats... *sob!*

Public Coat-pinion Poll

My online coat shopping browsing for next week's UK landing has hit an all-time high, with Zara proving to be a crowd pleaser.  But then again, what's new pussycat!?

Anyway, the coat that is eventually purchased needs to be just right if I'm going to stay on the financial straight & narrow (i.e. not buy multiple coats) & it has been ruled down to 3 "coat genres" so far: Classic black/navy, Military style or a sensible puffer.

classic coat
khaki jacket
puffer
Classic navy coat, Khaki Military coat, Black Sensible puffer coat - all Zara

Questions, comments, queries, suggestions, bullying statements, notes of love & wisdom are all welcome.

PS: Mon did a great round up here of Day 2 of Blackout.  Check it out for some colourful outfit inspiration.

Take Flight: Challenger Tafe Grad Show 2012

Le Fanciulle (74 of 184).jpg

It's no secret that our favourite PFF show this year was student runway, and it was a pleasure to be invited to check out the graduate shows.  Mind you, we couldn't attend any of them because of exams except for the Challenger Tafe show...  But we're so happy we got to see it since Phoebe and her course mates put on a great parade!

You can check out the full photoset on our flickr - after the jump below is just a sample of what was on show from each of the 11 graduating students.  Well done guys!

Lace top & shoes & belt & bag - all op shopped
Earrings - Asos

I finally got to wear my new earrings last night to the Challenger Institute 'Take Flight' graduation show (runway photos to come later today), as fashion shows are the right kind of place to test drive ridonculous outfits/accessories.

Please note that I am wearing no black (not even black shoes! ehrrrmaaagerddd), as this took a lot of effort and had better not go unnoticed.  No black in the daytime is one thing, but no black at a nighttime event is different altogether!

Happy Tuesday & thanks so much for reading :)

Cap That

Le Fanciulle (16 of 17).jpg

What'chu lookin' at?
Outtakes schmouttakes - anything makes the cut on this blog.  We'd rather show you our goofy sides since that is not far from the truth!

For Mon's Black Out challenge, it appears that all my non-black outfits default to blue.  Which is perfectly fine by me, especially when they're sun-smart too.  Can't be too cautious about skin cancer - especially when one lives in skin-cancer-central!  I am foreseeing this as a potential uniform outfit...

Black Out

HURRAH with a capital H!
And capital all the other letters too, because we've finally finished exams!!! Exclamation marks galore!!!!!

Le Fanciulle (1 of 11).jpgLe Fanciulle (4 of 11).jpg
Black maxi dress (op shopped), Country Road ballets flats

I scored this dress for a measly $10 & wore it so many times last week.  To an exam (above) with a thin belt to make it drop-waist, to run out to the shops with no accessories whatsoever &  even out for karaoke with a few jewels & nicer shoes.
(As in, I wore some jewels and nice shoes.  They didn't do karaoke.)
Cost per wear is approaching zero, my friends.

This post is particularly appropriate because starting Monday we're taking part in Black Out, a black ban (harharhar) on wearing black.  As serious black-o-holics, I'm not sure how we'll go.

Racing Stripes & a Big Thank You!

Le Fanciulle (15 of 16).jpg

Oh hello there, blog readers!

Who knew S & I would get our act together and churn out a few outfit posts for you - all  shot in exam week?  Well with two papers down and a generous 3 days until our last unspeakable, we are positively itching to get back to daily blogging!

Getting their debut on the blog today are these Sportsgirl trousers (perfect slouchy pants, on sale as well!) and a Zara blazer which my dad so kindly found for me in China.  The stripe on the collar is actually metal - thus making it even cooler than I imagined it to be.  (on the topic of blazers, does anyone want to sponsor me for this S&B tux jacket?)

I'm hoping I can start making this slouchy pants + slouchy top + blazer combo more of a "uniform" - goodness knows I need to get dressed quicker in the morning.  I'll also be having my annual closet clean-out shortly, and I'll be checking myself into wardrobe-rehab soon so stay tuned for that post.
Do you guys have a fail-safe uniform which you try to stick to?

P.S. Thank you so much to anyone who nominated us for the WAFA Betts Best Blogger Award!  We are so humbled that you'd consider our little bloggy worthy :)  Congratulations to the other nominees too - you are all very deserving!

Light/Dark

There is light at the end of the tunnel!  T & I finished our 2nd out of 3 exams today and now have a sliver of hope that we might come out alive.  But I'm sure your care factor is nearing zero, so let's talk about fashernnn.

Country Road silk shirt & flats
Just Jeans leather skirt (similar here & here)
Sportscraft necklace (that broke on 2nd wearing! piece of poooo)

I've said it before but I'll say it again.  Buying new leather is for Mr Moneybags & Associates, a club I'm yet to be invited to.  Second hand leather (op shops, eBay, off the streets) is the way to go and this skirt, poached from eBay, is le proof.

These photos show you my failsafe throw-everything-black-together-and-hope-for-success method, combined with a bit of procrasti-hair-curling.  First outing in a while, it was!  When your life-highlights boil down to ophthalmology revision tutes & trips to IGA to buy highlighters, you should really start worrying.

Ok, time for a short rest & back to the books!

DIY Acne Star Skirt - Styled!

Oooh yeah it's DIY Friday again!  It's been a while hasn't it?
We had our first exam today, followed by some outfit shooting (photos to come in time) and a relaxing massage to get the next lot of study underway.  Thank you for continuing to visit our little bloggy, even though we're not posting as much as we'd like to!  We promise it'll be back on like Donkey Kong after next Friday :)

Le Fanciulle (9 of 11).jpg

S gave me some (very simple) outfit inspiration for this DIY that I did in July, in her post a while ago.  I was worried that the stars were a bit fragile, but they held up well for an afternoon of errands and Church!

I Wear the Pants

A bit of pre-exam posting, just to take the edge off the impending stress!

IMG_5023.jpg

No point in wearing dreary colours when the weather is as beautiful as it is currently.  Except for the fact that we are TRAPPED INSIDE STUDYING!!  That aside, this is a pretty simple, no-fuss outfit, but that's kind of what you need when the colours are so shocking.

Wish us luck!!!

Knit knit

rachelrutt rutticer

I'm in the mood to finish knitting the huge burgundy scarf I started eons ago, in the hope it might be finished in time for my trip!  That'd be an absolute miracle, seeing as I am the slowest knitter in the history of the craft... not to mention I made it so wide that it takes a whole sitting just to do a few rows.  Silly silly me.  It's more a blanket than a scarf, really.

But anyway.  Must. Keep. Studying.

Adios!

NYFW: Shorty

Oh hello, it looks like Elena Perminova has been stealing a bit'o'inspo from LeFancyPants regarding sports shorts.

Ho ho ho, I wish.  Elena is the epitome of fashion-week-street-style.  Not to mention she's vying for the top spot on my girl crush list with Miroslava & Olivia.  (Yeah, first names terms)

If you want some sporty shorts of your own:

1. Cut some op shopped pants into your desired shape.
2. Hem them, with a curve up at the sides.
3. Sew some piping (available at a craft shop) onto the edges.

Super easy!  Wear with a crop top if you have fab abs/no shame.

Topshop Hat, Topshop leather SkirtJumper, Tony Bianco Boots, Gorman sunglasses, Topshop chunky scarf, Saba sling bag, Topshop coat & leather gloves

For a serious planned-packing fiend like me, the contents of my suitcase for my upcoming trip are going to be terribly impromptu.  Crazy exam study is taking precedence over my usual elaborate outfit plans, so it's going to be a case of packing a billion warm basics in neutral colours.

*Fingers crossed* the combinations turn out something like the one above.
Believe it or not, there are things I'd rather be doing in Europe in place of shopping to prevent frostbite.

Note to Santa: I need that leather skirt. Need, not want.

My Latest Loot - Exam Edition!

Akin to Margaret, saving-goals go out the window when it comes to exam time in an effort to stay sane.  Thank goodness, this year I made myself a list of things to curate my perfect wardrobe (more on that later!) so mindless online shopping wasn't so mindless after all.  This year it's back to basics - goodbye random impulse buys!

basics

Went a bit nuts at my all time favourite, Country Road (and big-sister Trenery), scooping up some striped tops and shoes.  Then on my walk back from the hospital, I wound up in the Saba outlet store and couldn't leave without that darned blazer...
