Holiday DIY #1 - Fur snoods

As said in the previous post, T & I abso-fricking-lutely love DIYs. Our first project was to do something with the massive amount of fur that arrived on our doorstep from ebay. SNOODS, of course! I mean, it's really quite logical.

The humongous amount of (faux) fur
cut cut cut
 Folding into a a tube
Halving into two tubes (no snood sharing in this 'hood)
 Securing the seam
Voila! A tube of faux fur!
We inverted the tube the right way out- fur on the outside!
The trickiest bit by far- stitching the ends together.
T hard at work. Sew, woman, sew!
The finished snood!

Now we are all set to rock Europe with our DIY snoods...let's just hope we don't look like complete imbeciles or get paint bombed by PETA.
xx S&T

PS: Some mucking around photos for your viewing pleasure

The flowers wanted to join in the fun!
So did the boys!

Tell us your DIY projects!

Gettin' crafty!

S and I like to make things in our spare time (of which we finally have a lot of, thanks to the fact that exams are finally over!).
Here's some stuff that we are itching to try out some time soon; don't worry - we'll keep you posted with our successes (or failures.  Both ways I'm sure it'll be hilarious)

1: Fur snoods
(a la asos.com)
We've got the fur and we've got the zeal.  Time to make these buggers!

2. Circle skirts
I don't have very many skirts (I'm more of a pants and dress person to be honest) - but I'm thinking that my foray into sewing proper clothes could begin with a very easy circle skirt.
Pictures from The Sartorialist & Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 (via style.com)

3. A tee-dress
Probably something along the lines of this Dion Lee Rorschach print dress - as seen on Emma Watson (I'm quite liking her hair!)
Seriously, how hard could it be to sew a tshirt?

xx T & S
Happy holidays!!

Little reminders of love

A while ago I came across this cute blog and every so often it's nice to go and have a look at a place that just makes you feel good!  It's like a warm fuzzies in a website form (for those who miss doing warm fuzzies at school!)

If you're the kind who loves romantic movies and poems and all things warm/fuzzy, then you will love this blog. Or perhaps we just love it because of our obsession with pictures of cute couples...

Just what you need to hear after a yuck exam!
The cutest of them all!!

Counting down...

We are being sent literally insane by study at the moment but on short study breaks I have been doing a few little activities. T inspired me with her post to do a little photo diary of my more-interesting-than-study activities, because you really don't want to see what we look like at the moment.

Photographing beautiful springtime flowers
Exploring my own dressing table
Trying to choose which few scarves to take on the voyage!! (This is proving quite difficult)
Spying on our chooks having a feast
Choosing a nail colour. Red or red or red or red or red?
Picking mulberries at my brother's house (with chipped nailpolish, ughh)

And now to return to le books to continue my rapid spiral into insanity.

xx S

PS: In the end, I chose orange.

I want Lanvin not flowers!

Do you hear me, Simon (& Pete)?

Watch me:

What a drool-worthy designer collaboration by Lanvin and H&M! Here's a pick of my favourite pieces:
This dress also comes in red (I'm a bit torn as to which one I like better)
As per usual, I gravitate towards anything purple...  But the yellow dress is divine as well!

If I bought any one thing from the collection, for some reason it would be this necklace.
I think I actually squealed when I discovered this the other day!  Perhaps I'll get S to pick me up some goodies when she lands in Europe - on the day the collection is released (23rd November)...

Thank you Alber!!!

Zaralicious

T & I are both venturing to Europa these holidays, so it is a little confusing having both winter and summer clothing on the mind whilst perusing shops/the internet. I'm also having a mini crisis...how to stay warm whilst not looking like a giant fat snowball!? (horrible flashbacks to when I last went as a daggy 16 year old)

Today I came across this Zara lookbook, and I have decided that is going to be my little style guide for what to pack. If anyone has any tips, they're very welcome!!

Some other cosy looks I've stumbled across lately that are getting me excited to go:

Posts may be slowing up a little due to incoming exams, wish us luck!!

Some things are better left to the imagination...

This is a rant, triggered by an event on the afternoon of Monday the 25th of October, at approximately 4:15pm.

T & I have been on a worldwide crusade to stop the horror that is tights as pants.  Sure they may be acceptable in certain circumstances (dancing, sporting activities, renaissance fairs, dress-up parties), but how far is too far when it comes to incorporating the humble legging into general every-day wear?

Here are some of our self-imposed rules so that we (a) do not cause offence with a nasty visual assault of jiggly thighs/wedgies/creeping camel-toe attacks, and (b) set a respectable example to the younglings of the world by being properly attired at most times.

1.  If you run out of pants and must wear tights, cover your ass with something - be it a long t-shirt, or heaven-forbid, a skirt or shorts.

2.  If you find yourself thinking "gee, I think I'd like to wear tights-as-pants today!", repeat this thrice: I AM NOT LINDSAY LOHAN
(And we're not sure why you'd really want to be her either...)

3. Brightly coloured panties + black tights = things no-one really wanted to know

My Latest Loot Part 5- October

The end of Buy Nothing New month has come, as T said in the post below and boy am I happy. I didn't think it would be difficult at all, but surprisingly it was! The funny thing is that instead of rushing out to buy something new, I'm actually more hesitant to buy new things now. The past month has shown me how much money we waste/use/splurge on new things!!

Here is my final installment of not-new purchases:

1. Green silk dress from the Fusion clothing market day.
I. Love. Sheer. Silk.
(See below for more proof)

2. Pink silk singlet from a Subiaco op shopping rampage with T!!
It's not what I'd usually go for, but will look nice with a black blazer & heels & black leggings. ONLY JOKING! Pants, of course.

3. Sheer floral shirt also from Subiaco rampage. I came away with 4 items for under $8!!

4. Pink silk shirt from Op shop in Dunsborough/Busselton.
This shirt is not strictly mine. My mother dear bought it down south, but I have since claimed joint ownership. Coincidentally, it functions as a nice filter for the camera!
*Stalker alert!!*
And so continues the life of S: collecting piece after piece of impractical, easily-ruined, sheer, hand-wash-only, delectable clothing.

xx S

PS: The gingerfox kindly reposted our photos of T's awesome new (to her) ring, go and take a look! Thanks April Rose for letting us know!

My Latest Loot 4 - October

WOW - S and I made it through a month without buying anything "new".  That's not to say we didn't buy anything at all, or that it was easy at all (midway we both confessed our shopping-cravings to each other and vowed to stay far away from our favourite stores...).

Anyway, here's the last of my October-loot instalments!

1. Silk beaded top - pretty much a steal from Subi Good Sammy's one afternoon when S and I decided to boycott studying and go shopping instead.
Amazingly it still has all the beads and the material is in perfect condition!

2. Blue cocktail ring - from The Ginger Fox's UWA market day stall
S & I took turns wearing it around for the rest of the day!  I bet this purchase is going to rekindle my childhood obsession with rings...

3. Scanlan & Theodore belt - from the Fusion Clothing sale
There were some other pieces at the sale that we were dying for!
But seeing as S & I are going for respective European holidays soon (and we're currently scraping the bottom of the barrel with regards to funds), we thought it'd be best if we exercised some restraint...

Ok... back to the books.  Exams are in a week and a bit!  Eeeeep!
