Craziness after dark

My family can be amused by strange things...so when the power went out last week, we went crazy with candles and the smallest things seemed hugely funny. Like the laptop still living on through the blackout (my sister continued watching 90210 aka quality television), the solar lights being the only source of light and plenty of other mundane things.

My Little Audrey

My (not so) little (anymore) sister had her ball this evening and looked sooo elegant!! Her outfit was an Audrey Hepburn-inspired dress with cute 50s accessories and a simple bun. It's hard to see in the picture, but the fabric of the dress was the same embroidered-type silk as the one below.

It's crazy to think that the outfit above that Audrey (we're on first name terms now) is wearing would make it onto any fashion blog these days, whereas at the time it was probably just every day wear!

Pocket Rocket

I was lurking around Oxford Street the other night, and came across this little beauty by Pigeonhole in one of the shops (Urban Depot I think it was?):

Only $45?  Real leather??  Gold hardware???

Needless to say, it's one of those things which has been skulking around in my subconscious, popping up halfway through lectures whilst I'm online window-shopping...  I'm not even sure how I left the shop without it!

So now it's on my "maybe, possibly" list.  I mean, it would be mighty practical for me since:
1. I'm not actually that much of a hand-bag person.  I really like them, but I tend to run out of the house without one on most days because I really only need my phone, keys and wallet, which end up being lost at the bottom of my collection of large bags...
2. It'll be handy (and trendy) in hospital when my clinical clothes don't have pockets!  Plus I saw many a young female student-doctor sporting a small bag such as the one above...

I guess if I wanted to blow my budget (again), then this would be a suitable candidate:

Elie Saab - Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear

Just some stunning pieces by Elie Saab to leave you feeling dreamy inside.  Aren't these divine?

A dress in my favourite colour charteuse?  Yes please!

Some spring-time apricot numbers...  Makes me want to get a dress for med dinner next year already!

Dove grey and slate blue - also some perfect colours to complement the design of the dresses.

Aren't the cuts just fantastic?  A lovely juxtaposition of flowy, draped pieces with some simpler, form-fitting but contemporary shapes like the one above.

And to top it off, some sheer pieces with all the colours in the collection.  A visual feast!

I also noticed that the models look so healthy and confident.  I love it when they don't appear deathly.

The perfect pants...

I'm very much a pants-person.  Although I do very much like dresses and skirts, I do enjoy the functionality of a good pair of pants.

My perfect pants are of the slim-fit, straight-leg variety; fitting (but not clinging) to the upper thighs, falling in slender columns to the lower leg, possibly with some slight bunching at the ankles.  Much like these, from Elie Tahari's Pre-Fall 2011 Collection:

Oi Oi Oi!

These are some (slightly belated) photos of our Australia day gathering at Matilda Bay last week, mostly taken by my lovely PX (or by people who borrowed/stole his camera).

The weather was perfect, the food was delicious, the sun was BRIGHT and the company exceptional!
