Wedding Inspiration: First Comes Love

Le Fanciulle (2 of 76).jpgLe Fanciulle (6 of 29).jpg

Wowee this weekend has been all about weddings!  Today we're off to a contemporary Indian wedding in celebration of Riti & Shanek - to those lovebirds, we wish you all the happiness in the world as you embark on your journey as a married couple!

For those who aren't as lucky as us to feast on Indian treats today, feast your eyes here on some wedding inspiration.  Yesterday was the First Comes Love fair - an initiative of local creative hub Studio Bomba, it was a whimsical wedding-planner's extravaganza held at the rustic grounds of St George's College.  In opposition to the traditional format of the more commercialised bridal expos, the fair showcased plenty of exhibitors with an alternative aesthetic - many with their fingers in the Perth fashion-set pie as well.  The end result?  A breathtakingly gorgeous (and somewhat overwhelming) array of possibilities.  So many flowers!  So much letterpress!  Be still, my heart.

With a vague date set for early 2015, I was there to put my feelers out & scout for more resources (success!).  Brosephs & brosephinas, if S isn't around to keep me in check prepare yourselves for the most bloggery-hipstery wedding you could possibly imagine.  You know I don't do things the normal way, & this event only served to add fire to the indie flame.  Sorry Simon, but you said I'm in charge of planning!

I jest.

But not really.

Check out the full (warning: very long) post after the jump - if you want more details on each of the exhibitors I took photos of, just click on the photos to get to their websites!

Wedding Guest Attire

Last week we posted about appropriate dressing for some Hens Night shenanigans & now the time has come for this same lass to become a Mrs this very weekend!  As you can imagine, we're rather excited and with excitement comes outfit planning, as I'm sure you'll agree.  (You are reading a fashernn blaaahg after all.)

I had shamelessly been googling all sorts of things about wedding guest attire, and to be honest was not feeling that inspired, until I came upon this photo on tumblr.  Trusty tumblr!  Saving the day once more!

wedding (thriving twenty)

Thank you, ladies, for showing me the beauty of a simple block coloured dress and stand out accessories!  Crisis averted.

Do you have any wedding-guest-attire work horse outfits?  Any tips for a newbie?

2WW: Details - Sarina Suriano & Red Lips

Got a bit slack with photo editing on the weekend, so here are a few extra shots from my camera to show off some detail.
Very much in love with the Sarina Suriano ear cuff & S's subtle red/fuchsia colour-clash - a very lefanch 2-ways of adding a bit of *zing* into your formal outfits.  Also, we hope we can get our act together & provide you with better 2WWs soon...

Eat Out: Marie Antoinette Cafe Glacier

Le Fanciulle (14 of 19).jpg

Ok so I'm actually going back to Japan for Christmas & New Years with Simon, which is of course going to be a super adventure doing lots of non-touristy things since we've both been before.  However, after visiting this tres mignon cafe on Sunday in the pouring rain, a little part of me wishes to be visiting Paris again.  America is top of the list for next holiday destination (Devan & Aaron will slay me otherwise), but oh to return to Paris!  Eating hot galettes whilst walking towards the Pont Alexandre III in the brisk wind, ordering macarons from Laduree in my broken French.  You get my point, I'm in love with the city.

If you're having the same predicament as me, break out your freshest Breton-stripe bateau-neck & take a trip to Cottesloe to visit the Marie Antoinette Cafe Glacier (the ice-cream parlour kind of glacier, not the ice cavern kind).  Authentic crepes & galettes, ice-cream roses, & more pastries than you could possibly drool at - and very much not trop cher!  Simon & I gobbled down our mushroom galette & croque-monsieur very quickly to get to the treats, which are not to be missed.  Ice-cream addicts beware, you'll be back.

I for one might be back today after a 4-hour exam with S in tow...

Medical Ball 2013

Friday night was a huge night of celebration for our whole year group, with our final medical ball... what a bittersweet occasion!  We didn't take a huge amount of photos, apart from a few obligatory insta shots, so lucky for lefanch we had PX to take some happy snaps before we made it to the ball.

Dressing for Shenanigans

It's Saturday (hello Mr Obvious) and shenanigans are on the menu, with the occasion being our friend's last few days of being a miss!  The only problem?  In the aftermath of last night's ball prep, we want a no fuss outfit that will allow a hearty helping of dinner, a large dose of dancing & a little bit of shelter from the chilly wind.  The lass below manages to tick all those criteria without compromising on style, so forgive me if I just 100% copy her outfit.  Thanks, tumblr, for solving the crisis.

T's Hair Inspiration

Following on from S's med dinner inspiration post, here's mine.

If you follow me on ye olde insta', you'll have known that last week I bit the bullet and sunk my teeth into one of these Sarina Suriano ear cuffs (currently sold out, soz...).  A bit of sparkle to brighten up a black dress.  Now what to do with my hair...?  Here's some inspiration - perhaps a side braid since my hair keeps getting caught in my bling?  However, I'm still stuck on the photo below with Cassi van den Dungen (blue background).  You'll know tomorrow which hairstyle I decide to go with!

Ling Ling you forgot your bling bling.

Any hair suggestions welcome - not too complex though, because I'm doing it myself.

Ball Beauty

Formal occasions usually become a big deal, verging on saga, for 50% of the population.  That is, the 50% that can't just wear the same suit again and look automatically dashing.  For this reason, it's typical to go for the safe options.  Safe up dos, safe sparkly dresses, safe ball-y shoes and bags... but that has always been off putting for me.  Without detailing my whole ball-attire life history, I must say I prefer to go for a fancier version of something I'd wear on any normal day.  Something more "me" and less "I'm at a ball."
Hot pink dress with red lipstick?  Now we're talkin'.

So, dress finally ticked off (I'll save you that story), and accessories chosen.  What next?  Enter my hair and makeup inspo.

Oh and you should see my shoes.  You'll die.  It's love,

Outfit: Denim & Leather

PFF2013 (41 of 49).jpg

"What are you turd burgers talking about?  Dressing for comfort?" - Fat Amy, Pitch Perfect

With the exception of my Saturday night outfit (BTW Bon if you're reading this - you did a great job with my Student Runway outfit however I was looking too super squinty to squeeze into this post), this was one of the few days of PFF on which I had (a) bothered to wear heels, & (b) had a photographer (Simon, below) handy to snap my outfit in decent non-squinty lighting.  Comfort dressing was key this year for both S & I, as we nipped backstage & crammed ourselves into corners to get the shots whilst trying not to get in the way.  Not a task to perform in full fash-pack get-up!

Also, this is one of my tried-&-tested weekend looks.  Leather & denim is quite the killer combo - I'll be switching the trousers for shorts in the coming month as it starts to thaw out.
